In the second half of this year, Siemens is about to launch a new native digital chemical plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Siemens will deeply integrate into China’s new development pattern with a stronger belief, “said Xiao Song, Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens China, in an interview with Economic Daily.
The primary digital factory built with this focus is also a microcosm of Siemens’ accelerated innovation and development, digital transformation, carbon neutrality, and deep integration into the Chinese market in China.
As a global enterprise, Siemens has been thinking about how to better empower local businesses and improve local market responsiveness. This has greatly improved in the past few years, and in some business areas, Siemens has established its global headquarters in China. After Siemens established its global headquarters for low-voltage motors in China in 2019, it was evident that the value brought by rapid decision-making was being felt.

Siemens has now become a technology company focused on industries, infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare. Siemens has defined 14 core technologies for the company, among which popular technologies such as industrial 5G, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data are all areas that Siemens is constantly focusing on developing.
China is an important research and development center for Siemens, a continuous talent pool, and even a pillar of future innovation and development. At present, Siemens has 21 research and development centers and nearly 11000 valid patents and patent applications in China, as well as over 4600 research and engineering personnel.
Over the past decade, Siemens has invested over 10 billion euros to acquire more than a dozen software companies, making it one of the top ten software companies in the world today. Xiao Song believes that digital transformation requires cooperation and mutual benefit, with each party leveraging their strengths. Siemens’ advantages lie in industry experience and deep understanding of customers, but Siemens is not an expert in cloud infrastructure. So, in these fields, it is necessary to cooperate with professional enterprises.
